Project Description

Mt. San Antonio College recently installed a 16” Meade telescope that was already in their inventory in a dome on the roof of their science building. Observatory Systems worked with the architect to make sure that the pier for the telescope was at the correct height and position relative to the dome so that the scope would be centered in the dome. We made a nighttime on site visit with custom surveying equipment to sight true north and lay out lines and positions for the contractor to install the pier. We provide True North sightings as a triple check to the contractors surveying. We use special polar alignment scopes to accurately sight Polaris and lay down NSEW lines inside a dome prior to the pier being installed.
